GRIEVANCE COMMITTEE (1 Jul 2008) By the NC
(Call for discussion)

Over the past several weeks, I have been subscribed to the "private" Grievance Committee list.
They have failed to communicate to me:

Who is on the committee, or the terms they are seated to fill;
Of committee members that did respond to my questions, (two individuals), agreed to a slate that does not satisfy the representation of roles mandated by the Grievance Committee Procedures: "The Grievance Committee shall consist of seven members of The USGenWeb Project in good standing. The panel must include a State Coordinator and a member of the Special projects and three County Coordinators/Local Coordinators who have not served as State Coordinator or in a national level position within the last three years.";

Subject: Use of logo

Hi:
I am the editor of a county newsletter and one of our members has written an article about his discovery of the US GenWeb. May I use a small version of your logo with the article? This is just to attract people's attention and become familiar with it.

Thank you for your consideration.
Pam

Having heard no objection, permission is granted for use of the USGenWeb logo in your publication. Thank you for wishing to feature the USGenWeb Project. We would very much like to get a copy of the publication when available.

The USGenWeb Project Advisory Board would also like to make you aware of http://genevents.genwebsite.org/ , a USGenWeb Project site dedicated to help societies/groups have a successful event. It also assists researchers in locating genealogical events.

Thank you again for including the USGenWeb Project in your publication.

GRIEVANCE COMMITTEE NEW SLATE (9 Jul 2008) By the NC
Due to a reconciliation by and with Advisory Board members of
the Project members who volunteered during the last call, the following slate will be presented in Executive Session to select the initial Grievance Committee Slate.

(21 Jul 2008) By the NC
Please feel free to forward to USGenWeb Project lists.
----
The Advisory Board has reviewed the qualifications of those members who volunteered to serve on the Grievance Committee.

The proposed slate of committee members is listed below and will remain open for comments from the membership for a period of ten days. After that date, the board will vote to accept or reject the slate based upon those comments. This selection process by the Advisory Board was necessitated by the results of Motion 2007/08-10: 'Recall of Grievance Committee'

One proposed volunteer, Darilee Bednar, was not considered as she did not meet the qualifications set forth in the Grievance Policy and Procedures:

"The Grievance Committee shall consist of seven members of The USGenWeb Project in good standing. The panel must include a State Coordinator and a member of the Special projects and three County Coordinators/Local Coordinators who have not served as State Coordinator or in a national level position within the last three years."

Darilee served on the USGenWeb Project Advisory Board as Northwest Plains (NWPL) County Coordinator Representative with a two year term Ending 8/31/06.

We wish to thank all those who volunteered. The selection process was difficult.

CC/LC Representatives:
Kemis Massey - 2 year term - GAGenWeb Project
Joel Newport - 2 year term - MIGenWeb Project
Diane Siniard - 2 year term - NCGenWeb Project

Special Project Representative:
Robert Sizelove - 1 year term

State Coordinator Representative:
Shirley Cullum - 1 year term - SC TXGenWeb Project

At Large Representatives:
John Quigley - 1 year term - TXGenWeb Project
Dorman Holub - 2 year term - TXGenWeb Project

Please feel free to send your comments to me or your Advisory Board representative for consideration. Email addresses are available at http://usgenweb.org/about/advisoryboard.shtml

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY PROPOSAL (28 Jul 2008) By the NC
Next Agenda Item: This Day in History (Educational/Promotional)

Over the last few months, I have been working with our web master to place on our National Pages, a "On this day in history, as gleaned from USGenWeb pages"

A database has been created and I offer this url as an idea of what I envision. The url is presently not on our National pages. It is in a working environment that Linda uses before she places our pages live.

It is my hope that it will be soon featured on our http://usgenweb.org page with the Board's approval. http://www.cottonhills.com:87/research/index.shtml (We are aware that the above url may not work with all browsers).

To feature USGenWeb Project resources in this manner, I feel will benefit our researchers and feature the vast resources that are part of the USGenWeb Project!

Comments, discussion?
